What is it used for?
ThreeX revolutionizes the concept of managing a territory. With ThreeX, geographical data is represented in a realistic three-dimensional space, enabling the user to "fly" within the space.
Functions
TERRA NOVA’s ThreeX Suite is based on three products:
ThreeX RealGIS Viewer
ThreeX RealGIS Designer
ThreeX RealGIS Editor
ThreeX RealGIS Viewer is a freely distributed visual navigation software that allows the three-dimensional flight simulation in ThreeX Models and Projects, with the possibility to navigate through predefined VIEW POINTS and ROUTES.
ThreeX RealGIS Designer is an advanced visual display software that, beyond the functions of ThreeX Viewer, allows personalization of a ThreeX Model’s components. Adding to the ThreeX Viewer’s functionalities, the ThreeX Designer allows the user to define new View Points, define new Routes, and record a film of live and pre-defined navigation in AVI format.
ThreeX RealGIS Editor allows the complete customization of ThreeX Models and Projects, giving the user complete control of the project’s components (buildings, annotations, graphics, and VRML objects). For example, maps from raster formats (DTM, Slopes, Exposition, Shading, etc.), maps from vectorial formats (2D or 3D TIN Shapefile, level curves, altimetric bands, regular points grids, etc), 3D processing (add altitudes to 2D or 3D Shapefiles, calculate the 3D area in a polygonal Shapefile, calculate volume differences). Moreover, it allows for the ex-novo creation of models from elevation data, with a limit relative to the dimension of the TEXTURES that may be "drapped" on the TIN. In fact, ThreeX Editor can manage bitmaps up to 3000X3000 pixels, therefore 3KMx3KM with data to a meter, or 90KMx90KM with data to 30 meters resolution. In this regard, it is possible to manage a series of parameters on the quality and format of the TEXTURES, on the type of resampling, and on the transparency. Models with larger dimensions (up to 2000 square KM with images at 1 meter resolution in a single model, and beyond 2000 square KM via the subdivision of the area in the subzone with data at different resolution levels) may be generated directly by TERRANOVA.
